Off Road facilities

Off road facilities within Secondary Circuit for 4x4, Motocross, Jeep (Phase 4) off road

To provide a visually exciting backdrop and to utilise a necessary resource on-site for the provision of raw materials, a quarry is planned to be dug within the Secondary Circuit, providing a playground for a number of off-road motorsport activities;

1. Motocross; there is a motocross track on-site adjacent to the old wartime radio

building, which will be removed to make space for the Race Circuit. A new, more challenging track with new features is to be laid out in this zone. The Motocross Track will be developed to meet FIM standards, but will be developed in such a way that riders of all abilities shall enjoy the track. Ciprian Popescu, motocross and supermotard rider will have considerable input to the track design. Wash down facilities for the motocross bikes will be provided at the kart centre building, allowing riders to take their machines home clean, or store them privately if they wish.

2. Jeep showcase events; there is a plan for an 8-10m ‘cliff’ to showcase these awesome and uniquely Icelandic machines in full view of both spectators and TV cameras when hosting major events, whether circuit racing or these Jeep events in their own right. These jeeps will operate in the quarry area.

3. 4x4 course; sharing much of the Motocross facility, a specialist layout to provide a recreational challenge for 4x4 drivers, a 4x4 course will be established within the site.

4. Rally stage; so long as within cost and practicality parameters, consideration will be given to provide space and facility for a rally special stage on site
